 Story: Nana Yaw Asamoah Nayas

It's a little over six months since elected as the president of the Ghana football Association but the soft spoken, workaholic president had hit the ground running with various developmental projects.

Kurt Edwin Simon Okraku in fulfilling the "Igniting passion and creating wealth for All" manifesto, has together with the Executive council set up various funds to speed the development of Ghana football.

One of the famous fund is the
"Special World Cup Benefit Fund"

Clubs from premier league, Division one, Women's league will receive huge sum of money from the Kurt Okraku led administration anytime Ghana participate in the World Cup.

Not forgetting the lower divisions, Juvinal and Colts football, RFA's, PFAG, GHALCA, COACHES ASSOCIATION etc. Will also have their share if Ghana makes it to the mundial.

As part of getting the Basic Fundamental rights, Clubs and various associations through the SPECIAL WORLD CUP BENEFIT FUND can make proper recruitment, build standard training facilities, enhanced players salary and many more.

This a very laudable ideas which needs full support irrespective of your political affiliation.

Newborn baby becomes youngest coronavirus victim in the world

EDITOR: NANA YAW ASAMOAH (NAYAS)Saturday 14th March, 2020 @9:30 am

A newborn baby in England has become the world's youngest victim to test positive for coronavirus.
The child's mother was rushed to hospital days ago with suspected pneumonia but her positive result was only known after the birth.
The pair are being treated at separate hospitals as the mother's condition is understood to be worse than the baby's.
The newborn is being treated at North Middlesex Hospital where it was born, while the mother was moved to a specialist infections hospital.
After doctors learned of the mother's positive result, the baby was tested very soon after its arrival, according to The Sun
Doctors are trying to establish how the newborn contracted the virus, either through the womb or during birth.
A source said: 'Staff in contact with both patients have been advised to self-isolate.
'Health officials are urgently trying to find out the circumstances behind their infections.'
Officials have advised the pregnant women and babies are at low risk from coronavirus and are likely to only endure mild symptoms.
Unlike other infections, the mortality rate of coronavirus does not curve at both age groups, but only among the elderly.
The news comes as the UK's infection toll soars by more than 200 in one day to around 800 with 11 fatalities in total.
Scotland's chief medical officer confirmed the latest patient had died, saying: 'I offer my deepest sympathy to their friends and family at this difficult time'. Officials refused to release any other details.
Meanwhile the Welsh health minister revealed as many as 20,000 people could die in Wales as he suspended all non-urgent surgical procedures and outpatient appointments.

By Nayas for No.1 FM...

The race which includes former Ghana FA Executive Committee members George Afriyie, Kurt Okraku, Wilfred Osei, popularly known as Palmer, president of Division One Club, Alhaji Karim Grunsah and former FIFA agent Nana Yaw Amposnsah, who is considered an outsider have all made their intentions clear to contest for the vacant position after the resignation of Kwesi Nyantakyi
Abbey Pobi in an interview on NO.1 FM in Accra stated that anyone who had ever worked with the former Nyantakyi led Administration should not pick up forms for elections because he believes they are all out of Coverage area.
‘’I have said that anybody who have ever taken tea or eat with Kwesi Nyantakyi before should not try to pick a form to be an FA President because they are all out of coverage area since they were all with Nyantakyi for the past thirteen years ‘’ The bankroller of defunct Neoplan Stars said.
He continued ‘’ He was having a vice president, ten RFA(Regional Football Association) members who happened to be executives members, one hundred and twenty-three members who vote for him and he was working with all of them. So they are all part of it. I think I should be made the chairman of the elections committee so that I will be doing the vetting and I think if I am given that position, I will give Ghana a good FA President’’.

GHANA U-20 CRASHED OUT OF U20 NATIONS CUP

By Nayas

Ghana failed to qualify for the FIFA U-20 World Cup for the second time running after suffering a narrow defeat to Mali at the Africa Youth Championship in Niger.
The Black Satellites were beaten 1-0 by regional nemesis Mali at the Stade Général Seyni Kountché on Saturday.
Hadji Drame connected to a cross from El Bilal after a brilliant play with Koita of the left side.
Mali began the game on a positive note after creating the first chance of the game only for striker El Bilal's shot to go inches wide.
The Young Eagles came close again after Drame released Sekou Koita on the flanks, but the Red Star Salzburg player could not connect to the pass.
Ghana were comfortable in possession but could not create any attacking threat as both sides went into the half barren.
The Black Satellites returned from the half a stronger side but went down eight after the break.
A throw from the left found Bilal in the box who interchanged a pass with Koita before lofting the ball to Drame who cooly headed in.
Mali joins Senegal from group B as semifinalist and will represent Africa at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Poland later this year.

THOMAS PARTEY RED-CARDED IN MADRID DERBY

By Nayas

Ghana star Thomas Partey was sent off as Real Madrid beat Atletico 3-1 in the Madrid derby to overtake their city rivals into second place.
Gareth Bale scored his 100th Real Madrid goal in the game as Real revived their chances of winning the La Liga title.
Casemiro put Real ahead with a volley but Antoine Griezmann equalised after scoring a one-on-one.
Sergio Ramos restored the visitors' lead with a penalty and Bale converted from Luka Modric's pass to ensure the win.
Atletico ended with 10 men after Thomas Partey was shown a second yellow.

MATCH REPORT: Atletico Madrid 1-3 Real Madrid

By Nayas

Gareth Bale climbed off the bench to score his 100th goal for Real Madrid and help them to a derby day victory that puts them above their neighbours Atletico and into second place in La Liga.
Bale is now in the top 20 of all-time goalscorers for Madrid – his century coming in 217 games – he might even have scored a second heading over late on from Karim Benzema’s cross.
Atletico will complain about a second half VAR call going against them with luckless Alvaro Morata having lobbed the constantly jeered and whistled Thibaut Courtois, but the cold reality is they were well beaten by their still improving city rivals.
Bale’s goal came when he broke down the left and from Luka Modric’s perfect past scored past Jan Oblak from a tight angle.
The first half had already been a tale of two VAR decisions – one that benefitted Atletico, the other that favoured Real Madrid.
Before the controversy came the unmarked Casemiro to put Real Madrid into the lead.
Toni Kroos had to retake a corner on 16 minutes because the ball was outside the arc. From the retake his floated kick was aimed at Sergio Ramos. The Atletico defenders were drawn to Ramos like moths to a flame and they all got burned when his flick on fell to the unattended Casemiro who scissor-kicked it acrobatically past Oblak.

Real Madrid almost fashioned a second with a brilliant lightning break. It was two superb passes with the outside of the boot and then a disappointing finish.
First Raphael Varane played the ball out of defence, then Vinicius, hurtling down the left, crossed for Lucas Vazquez but he blasted high and wide on the volley.
Simeone was at boiling point on the touchline and was warned by the referee for his complaining. Soon the Atletico coach was jumping in joy not rage.
Angel Correa went shoulder to shoulder with Vinicius and came out on top. He then played Griezmann through and he fired low past the advancing Courtois.
The linesman had followed the new orders by not raising his flag until the move had finished but he believed Griezmann had been offside. After a nervy wait VAR corrected him to a huge roar from the Metropoitano.
Referee Xavier Estrada was being hounded by players on both sides with every decision he made. Madrid were still unhappy with what they believed was a foul on Vinicius from Correa in the build-up to the equalizer. Soon there was another close call and this time VAR worked in Real Madrid’s favour.
Vinicius went down just inside the penalty area after a foul from Jose Gimenez. The first contact was outside the area but the crucial second impact from Gimenez' knee was inside the area. The referee had pointed to the spot and VAR upheld his decision.
Ramos refrained from any Panenka elaborations. There was a hesitant run-up but with Oblak stood still, uncommitted, Ramos fired the kick low to the keeper’s right to restore Real Madrid’s lead.
The second half started with Courtois happy to be at the other end of the pitch in front of Atletico's more docile fans. At the start of the first half he had been pelted with various stuffed white rats by home supporters.
What happened to him on 53 minutes will have hurt far more – he was lobbed by Morata for what looked like the Atletico equaliser.
The linesman’s flag was raised but it was such a close call that again Mr Estrada’s finger went to his ear as he waited for VAR’s verdict. The linesman had got it right and the goal was ruled out. It was a shame for Morata who had shown brilliant technique to scoop the ball over the advancing Courtois.
It was a warning for Real Madrid and it was no surprise that Bale came on, although it was more surprisingly that he replaced Vinicius.
The Brazilian strolled off the pitch eating up the seconds, shaking the referee’s hand and anyone else’s he could reach. In the space of four days he had conquered the Camp Nou and the Metropolitano.
Morata then went down in the area and the red and white shirts swamped the referee. He instead gave a foul against Morata and stuck to his decision after consulting VAR. Morata then showed his frustration getting booked for a foul on Ramos. And was taken off by Simeone.
The change did nothing for Atletico’s chances of a comeback. With their next attack Bale got the third and when Thomas stamped on Kroos’ ankle he was off and all hope was gone for ten-man Atletico.
Real Madrid are now one point clear of their rivals in La Liga and on Barcelona’s shoulder albeit still someway behind. On this form they will be confident of chipping away at that gap.

MATCH REPORT: LIVERPOOL 3-0 BOURNEMOUTH

By Nayas

It was Roberto Firmino's back heel that told you the swagger was back. The move to play in the Brazilian had also been a thing of beauty, Sadio Mane finding Naby Keita whose long range pass was perfectly weighted. That in itself was an improvement on recent games.
This was Jurgen Klopp hitting all the right notes of his heavy metal football: controlled yet rapid changes of tempo to dislocate the opposition.
Yet it was the back heel that made it and which told you some of the old synchronicity was back. Firmino might have taken the shot himself, though the angle was narrowing, but he sensed something behind him. Or he knew, just knew that Mohamed Salah would be sprinting to join the attack
So, selflessly and instinctively, and while running at speed with no chance to check, he back-heeled the ball directly into Salah's path. Bournemouth had already been on the back foot now but the angles of attack had changed in an instant and they were completely discombobulated.
Now they had the Egyptian bearing down on goal, with a free hit. The conclusion was inevitable. We were two minutes into the second half and Bournemouth could have headed home at that point. Any half time re-organisation, any motivational words from Eddie Howe were lost in the ether at that moment. Three-nil down to a rejuvenated Liverpool, the contest was as good as over.
Not so the league title. That, of course, will ebb and flow, hopefully until May - but with a week off planned in the schedule, otherwise known as the FA Cup fifth round, and warm weather training in Spain, Liverpool can take stock and re-group.
With Trent Alexander Arnold coming on for 14 minutes and Jordan Henderson at least ready for the bench, they will be replenished some more when they come back for their Champions League clash against Bayern Munich.
Some cautionary notes. It is still February and the title race looks as though it will meander, veering one way then the next depending on the latest result. However, on the evidence of this performance, Liverpool aren't about to implode, Jurgen Klopp isn't Kevin Keegan reincarnated and the fight will be to the end.
The run of two wins in five in the Premier League games hasn't yet been decisive, even if they have invited Manchester City back into a head-to-head title race.
